Vote For Sharon Davis

Written by The Bingham Group

When Monroe Life Magazine shared the story of the Lighthouse Community Life Center in our Spring 2022 issue, it highlighted a powerful transformation taking place in the county. A former drug motel was being restored into a place of hope, healing, and second chances. Four years later, Monroe County native Sharon D. Davis continues that work. Since opening in 2023, the Lighthouse Community Life Center has served 138 clients, helping individuals rebuild their lives through recovery support and community resources.

The Recovery Center for Pregnant Women and Their Children in Vonore has also celebrated a remarkable milestone, 49 babies born drug-free since opening in 2018. Now Davis is taking her commitment to service a step further by running for 4th District County Commissioner in Monroe County. “This is my first time seeking public office,” Davis says. “I’m not a seasoned politician, but I believe my life experiences and professional background have prepared me for such a time as this.”

A lifelong Monroe County resident, Davis describes herself as a “kitchen table, front porch kind of gal.”
She grew up in a home where family dinners were followed by gathering around the television to watch the local and world news. Those moments helped shape her understanding of the world and instilled a sense of responsibility to stay informed and involved.

Her mother, Doris Davis, often reminds her that as a child Sharon’s favorite words were “Why?” and “How?”, a curiosity that continues to guide her today. “If you’re looking for a commissioner who will stand up, speak up, and ask questions when necessary,” Davis says, “I believe I am the person for the job.”

Davis credits her parents with shaping the values she carries into leadership today. Her father worked two jobs while caring for his parents, demonstrating resilience and perseverance. His advice still guides her today, push through challenges and stay steady in difficult moments. Her mother ran a structured and disciplined household that emphasized compassion, faith, and service to others. Those lessons helped inspire Davis’s lifelong commitment to serving the Monroe County community.

Davis began her professional career working for American Airlines while attending Middle Tennessee State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum College and advanced to become a Vice President of Human Resources.

Davis says her campaign is grounded in faith, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and strong community values.
“We are a product of our environment,” she says. “The good in my life comes from my faith and the people who have poured into me. To God be the glory.”

She believes strong communities are built when leaders work together to address local challenges and create practical solutions.
“For those who have called Vonore home for generations, and those who have chosen to make it their home, I humbly ask for your vote,” Davis says. “It would be an honor to serve the 4th District of Monroe County.”
“If elected, I will work hard for you,” she adds. “Let’s keep moving in the right direction.”
